The coronavirus pandemic has created much trouble for the public health sector and greatly disrupted the livelihoods of many Cambodians. Furthermore, the negative impacts from the pandemic could lead a lot of people to develop mental health issues or exacerbate their existing mental health issues leading to serious problems and even breakdowns.
This is why Raksa Koma Foundation, spearheaded by Her Excellency Chea Serey, initiated this special project in cooperation with TPO Cambodia to raise awareness on mental health issues and help people find access to proper mental health support and treatment. Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Cambodia is a leading local NGO in the field of mental health care and psychosocial support that has been working in Cambodia for over two decades.
Through this project Raksa Koma Foundation is supporting TPO Cambodia to provide:
- Psychosocial counseling service through phone counseling and online counseling (Facebook page TPO Cambodia);
- Necessary psychiatric treatment to patients experiencing extreme distress due to the impacts of COVID-19;
- Educational and awareness raising message and contents through Facebook and other communications networks;
- Community outreach on mental health and psychosocial support.
As part of this project, we are also running a social media and communications campaign with the hashtag #StopHiding to bring attention to and encourage discussion on our subject matter.
