The 3rd Cambodia Hearing Day

On 04 March 2018, Raksa Koma Foundation celebrated , presided over by H.E. Yim Chhaylin Hun Mani, Honorary Chairperson of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia. The event was also attended by H.E. Khiev Bory, Secretary of State, Ministry of Social Affairs, H.E. Em Chanmakara, Disability Action Council Secretariat General, Ministry of Social Affairs, H.E. Chea Serey, Founder of Raksa Koma Foundation, Mr. Chim Kim Hean, Founder of Hope Cambodia. This year, the event has gathered more than 450 people compared to merely 50 in the first years. There includes guests from the private sectors, individuals from all walks of life who want to understand more of the disability as well as 25 deaf children from Krousar Thmey, 45 deaf adults from DDP, 35 deaf children and adults from HOPE Cambodia, and 50 orphans from Phnom Penh Orphanage Center. According to the NGO Deaf Development Program (DDP), 51,000 people are profoundly deaf and more than 50,000 with hearing difficulty in Cambodia. Cambodia Hearing Day is an annual event organized by Raksa Koma Foundation in cooperation with HOPE Cambodia in order to raise awareness on high risk of hearing loss among children and teenagers and to draw attention to the needs of people with hearing disability to lead a normal life and be treated fairly in the workforce.
