Project on Mental Health Awareness – Completion

At the beginning of 2021, Raksa Koma Foundation started a project on mental health awareness in cooperation with TPO Cambodia to raise to raise awareness on mental health issues and help people find access to proper mental health support and treatment.

Through this project, we set out to provide:

  • Psychosocial counseling service through phone counseling and online counseling (Facebook page TPO Cambodia);
  • Necessary psychiatric treatment to patients experiencing extreme distress due to the impacts of COVID-19;
  • Educational and awareness raising message and contents through Facebook and other communications networks;
  • Community outreach on mental health and psychosocial support.

A social media and communications campaign called #StopHiding was also run in order to bring attention to and encourage discussion on our subject matter.

Now, after 3 months of implementation, 958 people have received psychological support, more than 316,000 people has been reached and engaged on social media; and 2,948 community members were educated in 95 awareness campaigns on mental health.

The highlight achievement of our campaign has to be the free mental health consultation via phone and Facebook chat. It was appreciated by pretty much everyone and has benefitted almost a thousand people directly, which is a very high number compared to similar implementation over the same amount of time in the past.

Lastly, we would like to thank our implementation partner, TPO Cambodia, for their efforts and dedication in implementing this project and the #StopHiding campaign, especially in servicing the many customers who called in for help.
